Oh Hey: Life the Past week + 365 Challenge Catch Up

Wow, I have NO idea where the time went this week. Actually, I do, and it's all a little crazy. Between work, business, company and just the general craziness that comes with life on a weekly basis, I'm way behind. You can take comfort in the fact that while I wasn't blogging I was busy writing client release forms, learning Lightroom and trying very hard not to get stuck in the crazy amounts of mud we have outside.

Speaking of mud, it's officially mud season here in the Northeast. Whoop, whoop. I don't like mud, but hey, being vertically challenged isn't as big a deal when you're trying not to get stuck in mud as it is when you're trying to see over and around snow banks. Going to work is so much more relaxing when you aren't playing something akin to Russian roulette every time you have to pull of a side road, but can't be totally sure that you can see beyond that eight foot hight mountain of snow.

Tomorrow is the first day of April! How exciting is that! I'm dreaming of warm, wishing for warm.... Hoping for warm!

That Day I Played Driving Instructor + 365 Challenge: Day 78

My brother is learning how to drive right now, which means that he's trying to get in as many hours behind the wheel as possible. While he's still learning, he has to have a licensed adult with him any time he's out on the road. Since I fit the bill, I got to go out with him for a very short stint this week. Thankfully for me, he's already advanced enough that I no longer have to worry about having sit with white knuckles.

365 Challenge: Day 75 + Winter Project Update

I've been waiting all winter to get a picture of a sunset. I don't mean just any sunset. I mean one of those stunning, brightly colored ones that we get so often in this neck of the woods.  However, it seems like I've been waiting fruitlessly. Ever night we have minimally colorful sunsets. Well, I finally got one night with just a little bit of color.
Which means I finished my winter bucket list!
  • Finish the Star Quilt I've been putting off for forever
  • Go snowshoeing
  • Take pictures of a winter sunset
  • Have a massive snowball fight
  • Get my room repainted
  • Work on craft fair projects (start early for next winter)
  • Update blog look
{Edit: For some strange reason, uploading this picture to Blogger has caused a strange color bleeding effect which essentially wrecks the picture....}

365 Photo Challenge: Day 73

Disturb us, Lord, when
 We are too well pleased with ourselves,
When our dreams have come true
Because we have dreamed too little,
When we arrived safely
Because we sailed too close to the shore.

Disturb us, Lord, when
With the abundance of things we possess
We have lost our thirst
For the waters of life;
Having fallen in love with life,
We have ceased to dream of eternity
And in our efforts to build a new earth,
We have allowed our vision
Of the new Heaven to dim.

Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly,
To venture on wider seas
Where storms will show your mastery;
Where losing sight of land,
We shall find the stars.
We ask You to push back
The horizons of our hopes;
And to push into the future
In strength, courage, hope, and love.

365 Challenge: Day 71 - Chamelaucium uncinatum

The sights and the smells of spring are getting so much stronger. Apart from the mud outside, the flowers in the stores are starting to become more and more vibrant and less like the typical hot house flowers.

365 Challenge: Day 70 - Quincy

Spring is in the air! It's been so warm the past few days, almost tee shirt weather. I probably would have been out with out a jacket if it were for a residual cough.  Quincy, our mini Holland Lop, is sort of a snow bird. He moves from the barn into the basement every year when it starts to get really cold.

Once it starts to warm, it's time for some "field trips" for our bunny.

Winter Update + 365 Challenge: Day 69

Hey, guess who's up and around again. It feels so good to be able to get outside and do things with out feeling like I'm going to cough up one or both of my lungs. Not only am I feeling better, but the weather has been absolutely gorgeous.

This afternoon I threw on my gaiters and snowshoes and went out for a hike.

The Girl Behind the Blog: Right Now I'm...

This morning I decided that I needed to update my blog with something besides pictures. (*gasp*, is that even possible??) So I've been plucking away at this post all afternoon between barn chores and other sundry things.

365 Challenge: Day 65 - Once In A Blue Moon

 A "Blue Moon" is the second full moon in a month. In all technicality, this moon isn't a proper blue moon at all, but that title suits my purposes.... So there it is.

Its starting to become a little telling what I will do for the sake of experimenting with photography. I was walking by my skylight last night and saw the moon. Deciding that it was too pretty to pass up an opportunity to take a picture. I closed off my room, turned out all my lights and opened my skylight to take pictures. It might have only been 15˙ out, but it was worth it.

365 Challenge: Day 64 - A Geranium on the Cranium

I made the investment in a new 85mm lens and I'm in love. I'm not going to go into all the ins and outs of the technical reasons why it's such a great lens. Though I will say that I have a whole new appreciation for the wonder that is large aperture.  Anyways I've been looking for any and every opportunity to try it out, without having to share my germs with people who have already been exposed to them.

Enter my younger brother. Yeah, he's been sick too. So we're both just laying low and hanging out.... oh and trying to burn off what little pent up energy we actually have. Hence the picture above. Can you tell we're pretty easily amused?

365 Challenge: Days 61, 62 & 63

I'm going to be honest right up front and say, this week wasn't a good week for taking pictures. Between still, yes still, being sick and just plain being busy I didn't put as much time or effort into getting some really good images.

Winter Projects: Update Part 2 + 365 Challenge: Day 60

Ah, time for another quick update on my winter projects. After two very long weeks of being sick, I'm finding that I'm getting a lot more accomplished than I'd originally expected I would. Granted, most of the remaining items on my winter bucket list haven't really been possible because of being sick non-stop, first with a cold and then with the flu. Thank goodness for essential oils and cough drops.

365 Challenge: Day 59 - Almost Spring

Happy first day of March! It's only 20 more days until the official start of spring!
